Granny’s Finest is a fashion label with a heart. It is a social enterprise that tries to address the need for social cohesion of seniors by connecting them through knitting and crochet clubs. The patterns for the items are created by young designers recently graduated from design school; the grannies meet regularly and use quality wool to create the accessories or clothing which are then sold in stores or on the internet. Everyone involved in the enterprise enjoys the benefits and Granny’s Finest is expanding rapidly as more and more seniors want to join. The co-founders of Granny’s Finest, Jip Pulles and Niek van Hengel, are examples of the leaders for the future with a combination of head, heart and hands. Granny’s Finest is on the forefront of development of business ethos which goes beyond only profit considerations. As a volunteer of Granny’s Finest, I try to support these developments in the spirit of ‘be the change you want to see’.
